They found him in the forest, so badly injured he couldn’t remember anything at all about himself and his previous life. Zagor and Cico take the man to the nearby Shawnee settlement so that he can be given treatment, and there the Indians look after him and call him by the name of Askenay, “the man who can’t remember”. This man, however, could represent a threat for his rescuers. Askenay has found peace and love among the Shawnees and has no wish to leave, nor has he any desire to find out what his life was like beforehand. And yet, the past always returns and Zagor, who has struck up a friendship with him, discovers, not without alarm, a number of characteristics of the man called Askenay which by no means evoke the idea of someone who’s always been a peace-loving guy. His most exceptional skill with a pistol, first and foremost… and then, certain figures, old acquaintances who take center stage once more and begin to cast more than a couple of shadows over the trustworthiness of Askenay…
