From a bookshop to a butcher’s, with a stop in Miami… That’s the beginning of 2014 for Julia.

In January we saw our criminologist on the tracks of a million-dollar book  that caused a double murder. In February, Julia would like to take a romantic vacation in Miami, with her handsome fiancé, Ettore Cambiaso, but she’s involved in a dangerous investigation where she has to protect a young boy who witnessed a crime. From the Florida sun, in March Julia goes to the freezing refrigerator of a butcher’s shop  where the husband of an old friend of hers was killed with a cleaver.

That’s nothing compared to the jail cell where Julia will find herself, after going undercover in a prisoner’s guise, to inquire about a gang that controls a drug-trafficking cartel. The two following albums will be about two different women with the same destiny. The first one, Gloria, is an actress on the wane; the second, Dorian, divides her time between the hospital where she works as a nurse and the street where she works as a prostitute. And both were murdered. We carry on with the disappearance of a librarian conned by the e-mails of a gorgeous Russian woman, a strange gun that no gun dealer appears to know, the theft of some radioactive material, and a mummified body that resurfaces after a house collapses.

The year will end on a high note, with the long-awaited return of Julia’s sworn enemy, Myrna Harrod, who kidnapped the owner of a pulp stories’ publishing house, keeping her locked in the panic room of her mansion. We’ll also have our annual Almanacco del Giallo,  where we’ll find out how a young Julia, still a criminology student, met one of the most important men in her life, detective Leo Baxter.
